Aspen Tutoring

Established in 2008, Aspen Tutoring provides thorough preparation for every segment of the
SAT and ACT exams, along with support for crafting college essays. With a collective
experience of more than 40 years as tutors and educators, Aspen Tutoring is dedicated to guiding
students to recognize their potential and showcase their optimal academic profiles to college
admissions officers.

Small group classes and individual sessions take place in a serene and comfortable home
environment, conveniently located just a few blocks from downtown Ridgewood. We initiate the
process with a complimentary meeting to evaluate each student’s skill level and create a
personalized study program. Sessions are available daily, extending until 9:00 PM.
Our founder, Marlene Burton, selected the name Aspen Tutoring for its symbolic significance.
“Aspen” draws inspiration from the aspen tree, known for its rapid growth, deep roots, and
leaves that shimmer to optimize sunlight exposure. This name reflects qualities of adaptability
and resilience.

  My younger son took a 10-week SAT class with Aspen Tutoring last summer and had an excellent experience. First, Sarah and Meaghan were communicative and kind when I was inquiring about the class. I had used a private tutor for my older son so I really wanted to make sure I was making the right decision in going with a small-group class this time around. Once the class started, my son was engaged and never once complained about the homework and study time he needed to put into the class. That was a win just on its own!  We then saw steady improvement in his practice test scores, and by the time he took the actual SAT (both in October and November of his junior year), he knocked it out of the park both times.
